“Sometimes you have to sacrifice your performance for high heels.” -Gwen Stefani

9/15/13

High Heels

I walk slowly downstairs,

Holding close to the railing,

I meet up with her,

As she quickly signs the card,

We leave earlier,

So we won’t be late,

In case we get lost,

I tell her I made the wrong,

Shoe choice for today,

She laughs and she says,

She knew she shouldn’t have,

Worn high heels either,

But, she loves heels,

As we continue down the,

Highway,

To an outdoor wedding.

“This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.”- Leonard Bernstein

A few months go by,

Will you forget me?

Reply,

Mapping out the future,

A race against time,

Love Always, Your friend,

Reply,

Hope things are well,

Miss you here,

Reply,

It’s been awhile,

Just thought I would say,

Hello,

Reply,

Always on the road,

Things are well,

Reply,

I wish I could say,

That my biggest fear,

Is that you,

Will not,

Reply.

“When you finally go back to your old home, you find it wasn’t the old home you missed but your childhood.”- Sam Ewing

Seasons of My Childhood

In winter, The snow fell,

Isolated, Imaginative solitude,

I found Independence,

In spring, The flowers bloomed,

Exploring, Never-ending curiosity,

I found adventure,

In summer, The sun shined,

Racing, Water-filled amusement,

I found friendship,

In fall, The leaves began to change,

Celebration, Laughter and love,

I found myself growing older.

“Insomnia is a gross feeder. It will nourish itself on any kind of thinking, including thinking about not thinking.”- Clifton Fadiman

Insomnia

Lights off,

Mind on,

Door shut,

Eyes open,

Calm outside,

Insanity inside,

Silent thoughts,

Sleepless nights.

“Since it is not granted to us to live long, let us transmit to posterity some memorial that we have at least lived.” -E. Joseph Cossman

The Memorial

A life was taken,

So many hearts broken,

Tears falling fast,

Powerless to the harsh reality,

Familiar faces emerge,

Memories overflowing,

We are all bound by sorrow and grief,

We all try to accept this,

And believe she is at peace,

Old feelings return,

Old hatreds awaken,

For a moment,

Everything is set aside,

To cherish and remember,

The good times and the bad,

Every smile, Every tear,

For a life lived,

For a beautiful person.

“We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.” John Lennon

This is one of my earliest poems I still have, I wrote this when I was in middle school.

Precious

So careless,

So cruel,

Don’t you know?

Don’t you care?

I have feelings too just in case you forgot,

If you find this entertaining please stop,

I’m sensitive,

I’m precious,

I thought you would understand,

Live in my fairly tale, Be my man,

You walk right by me,

Tears stream down my face,

You keep on walking,

The bad memories are the ones I can’t erase,

I guess I was wrong,

If your gone everything would still be the same,

I’m still the only one to blame,

I’m sensitive,

I’m precious,

I’m supposed to be yours,

Your special one,

But obviously I’m not,

I’m crushed,

I feel as though I could die,

You weren’t careful enough with these feelings of mine,

I’m sensitive,

I’m precious.

“Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.” William Congreve

10/21/12

Used

Another spoke on your wheel,

I’m so faded, Lost my appeal,

A shattered window,

On your revolving door,

A piece of your puzzle,

Nevermore,

So forsake me,

Gamble my heart,

With loaded dice,

A waste of time,

A most noble sacrifice.
