Play, Repeat: My Current Song Obsession #7

Jewel- Here When Gone

This song is beautifully poetic. I love the play on words and the imagery that is captured in the lyrics. One of my favorite verses is “And the night swallows itself, You can see it in the stars, The moon blinks it’s tired eyes”.  I really like the calming guitar with a slight longing for something. It fits the lyrics perfectly.

Jewel was born in Alaska. She is a singer/songwriter, guitarist, producer, actress, and also an author/poet. In total she has released eight albums as well as two holiday albums and two children’s music albums. Her most recent album ‘Picking Up The Pieces’ was released this month. I cannot wait to buy this album to add to my collection. Any fans of her first two albums ‘Pieces Of You’ or ‘Spirit’ will love how Jewel goes back to her roots.
