“Since it is not granted to us to live long, let us transmit to posterity some memorial that we have at least lived.” -E. Joseph Cossman

The Memorial

A life was taken,

So many hearts broken,

Tears falling fast,

Powerless to the harsh reality,

Familiar faces emerge,

Memories overflowing,

We are all bound by sorrow and grief,

We all try to accept this,

And believe she is at peace,

Old feelings return,

Old hatreds awaken,

For a moment,

Everything is set aside,

To cherish and remember,

The good times and the bad,

Every smile, Every tear,

For a life lived,

For a beautiful person.
