This is one of my many favorite songs by Johnny Cash. I love this video too because it shows the bond between him and June.
Today would have been his 81st birthday. I remember my Grandma listening to him when I was younger but I didn’t really get into his music until just a few years ago. He is truly an amazing talent. Rarely are covers better than the original songs but, Johnny Cash’s cover of NIN’s -“Hurt” is phenomenal. If you haven’t heard it I HIGHLY suggest listening to it.
Also if you get a chance read The Man In Black and watch Walk The Line ( Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix are amazing in that film)
Happy 81st Birthday Johnny Cash!

Happy Birthday Kurt Cobain!!
Today would have been his 46th birthday. His lyrics and music in Nirvana have been a huge inspiration to me and my musical aspirations as well as my poetry. This is a video from MTV Unplugged. The song is a cover, It was originally written by David Bowie.
“Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.”
Your words and music will always live on forever.

Today is World Cancer Day
My Mother also had another vision .. to bring more awareness to ALL cancers not just lung cancer which she had been diagnosed with.
It begins now….
Each month on TOAM I will be covering a different type of cancer. I will try to find as much information and as many resourceful links in hopes that it may help someone that is researching/diagnosed.
To start bringing this vision to life here are some great sites that offer information on cancers, volunteering and updates on research:
American Cancer Society: http://www.cancer.org/
Stand Up To Cancer: http://www.standup2cancer.org/
National Cancer Institute: http://www.cancer.gov/
Some really awesome sites that help to bring smiles during a rough time:
Make A Wish: http://wish.org/
Granting Dreams Foundation: http://grantingdreams.org/ (It’s similar to Make A Wish except it’s for everyone19 and older)
If you haven’t already go read my Mom’s story: https://twistofamillennia.wordpress.com/2013/01/17/a-promise-kept-my-mothers-story/
Also if you are on the Stand Up To Cancer page on Facebook, you can add a photo on there today to honor yourself or someone you know that has battled or is currently battling cancer.
For them I won’t give in and I won’t give up.
A month already?
When I first started Twist of a Millennia, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was hoping for maybe a few likes or views here or there and if I was lucky a few follows. I wasn’t expecting many to read what I had to write. I was pleasantly surprised at this community of bloggers here and how it motivated me to pursue more writing and other goals of my blog. I am still in awe at all of the views, likes and follows from all around the world. It’s so awesome to be able to connect with others through this.
I have so many goals that I want to accomplish that are currently in the works. I cannot wait to see them unfold and hope that all of you( and maybe some more along the way) will come along for the journey further in to the Twist of A Millennia.
This is for all of you
For every view, for every like, for every comment, for every follow… Thank you, it means more than you all will know.
“We’ve got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can’t just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it’s going to get on by itself. You’ve got to keep watering it. You’ve got to really look after it and nurture it.” John Lennon
This is one of my earliest poems I still have, I wrote this when I was in middle school.
Don’t you know?
Don’t you care?
I have feelings too just in case you forgot,
If you find this entertaining please stop,
I thought you would understand,
Live in my fairly tale, Be my man,
You walk right by me,
Tears stream down my face,
You keep on walking,
The bad memories are the ones I can’t erase,
I guess I was wrong,
If your gone everything would still be the same,
I’m still the only one to blame,
I’m supposed to be yours,
Your special one,
But obviously I’m not,
I feel as though I could die,
You weren’t careful enough with these feelings of mine,
